Famous Paintings: Style and Inspiration

Before telling you about the famous paintings and artists who have deeply fascinated me and influenced my works, I would like to summarize some artistic styles in a brief description, complete with examples.

  1. Realism : Realism or verismo is characterized by the accurate and detailed representation of the real world. Realist artists try to reflect nature or contemporary life without excessive embellishment. Famous paintings : "Woman among the waves" Gustave Courbet, "Arrangement in gray and black portrait nr 1" Jams Abbott McNeill Wistler, "Science and Charity" by Pablo Picasso
  2. Impressionism : Impressionists focus on light, color, and the sensation of the moment. The brushstrokes are often quick and visible. Famous paintings : "The Walk", "The Pond of the Nymphs", "Water Lilies", "The Magpie" by Claude Monet, "Bal au moulin de la Galette" Pier-Auguste Renoir
  3. Expressionism: Expressionist artists seek to express intense, internal emotions through bright colors and distorted shapes. Famous paintings : "The Scream" by Edvard Munch, "The Starry Night" by Vincent van Gogh, "The Blue Horse" by Franz Marc
  4. Surrealism : Surrealism combines realistic elements with dreamlike and irrational images, often having a touch of strangeness. Famous paintings : "The Persistence of Memory" by Salvador Dalì, "The Son of Man" by René Magritte
  5. Cubism: Cubism breaks down objects into geometric shapes and assembles them into a multidimensional version. Famous paintings: "Cubist self-portrait" Salvador Dalì, "Woman with mandolin", "Les demoiselles d'Avignon", "Bread and fruit bowl on the table" by Pablo Picasso.
  6. Abstract Art: Abstract artists do not seek to represent recognizable objects, but rather abstract emotions, shapes and colors. Famous paintings : "Blue Sky", "Composition VIII", "Yellow, Red, Blue" by Wassily Kandinsky.
  7. Fauvism : Bright, bold colors are used to create expressive, non-naturalistic works. Famous paintings : "Joie de vivre", "The Dance", "The Red Room" by Henri Matisse.

As a self-taught artist, I must say that every style with all its nuances have participated and continue to be a point of reference and inspiration for my art. I would like to add to the list of famous paintings art and artists also some contemporary names that I think are equally, if not even more important for the creation of my paintings: Banksy with "Balloon Girl", Yayoi Kusama "Infinite Present", Tanya Gomelskaya" Darling", The Oblivious Mind with "Composition", Aziz Sulaimanov with "Bouquet with cherry", Jason Anderson with "STRIA", Dolaana Davaà with "Portrait of a Young Lady", Oksana Schondesign "California" and many other painters and sculptors.

In this period of my life I love to paint largely mixing expressionism with the abstract, sometimes with some notes of surrealism, because only in this way can I express my emotions on canvas and other surfaces.
