Every year, as the leaves begin to fall and the evenings grow colder, I feel a growing excitement inside me. For me, Christmas is not just a holiday, it is a creative season. Creating Christmas decorations is a tradition that I love.
My passion began with garlands or rather with the collection of pine cones. The collection and processing of pine cones is a special moment. I love collecting pine cones, leaves and branches during walks on the mountain and then giving them a second life. So with a basket in hand, I venture into the woods in search of the perfect pine cones. Once home I clean them meticulously and then proceed with drying. After a few days I paint them or spray them with glitter for a surreal effect. Natural pine cones are evergreen so they give a touch of rusticity in any season. Instead, painted ones will become part of the garlands or decorations such as the centerpiece. Each garland tells a story by intertwining memory and fantasy. I add ribbons, streamers, bells, bows, balls, chestnuts and more to make the garland special and unique. On some of them I also like to add small battery-powered lights to illuminate the winter evenings even more.
I also love creating centerpieces, or rather floral arrangements using dried and artificial flowers. Pampas flowers are beautiful for the autumn season and for very minimal environments and in shades of nudes. I wanted to upgrade these flowers, so I colored them in white, gold and red for the winter holidays but, I also made them compact. In this way they do not lose pieces with every movement, they are preserved longer and also because this new shape makes them more interesting.
As a creative person, I also tried expanded rubber, an incredible material. And from here, giant but light stars were born. They are fantastic decorations because they always return to their shape and, thanks to the glitter, they create sparkling effects that capture the light of the Christmas lights. These stars are precious details that I hang everywhere in the house, from the branches of the Christmas tree to the windows.
Every year, my heart fills with joy as I create these decorations. It's not just about aesthetics, but about creating an atmosphere that warms the soul and celebrates the beauty of the season. My home is transformed into a magical place, where every corner reflects the love and dedication I put into my creations. Every smile I see on the faces of those I admire reminds me why this passion is so special.
